Team Leader apprenticeship

Apprenticeship Spotlight Returns!

After a short break, our Apprenticeship Spotlight campaign is returning! This is where we focus on one apprenticeship programme across all our digital platforms, deep-diving into its features, units, progression and more!

So far, we’ve shone a light on Procurement and Supply and Digital Marketing. This time, we’re going to be focusing on the Level 3 Team Leader / Supervisor apprenticeship…

This apprenticeship is ideal for existing leaders / supervisors / managers or those new to leadership or management.

What is a Team Leader / Supervisor?

Typically, the main role of a team leader / supervisor is to manage teams and projects to meet a private, public or voluntary organisation’s goals. Usually a first line management role, they are responsible for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They will provide guidance and direction to those working under them, through planning and monitoring workloads. To help with this, building both internal and external relationships is also a key responsibility.

Team Leader / Supervisor (Level 3)

Completing the Level 3 Team Leader / Supervisor apprenticeship will allow you to gain a qualification equivalent to two A-level passes. It takes approximately 18 months to complete (depending on working hours). As part of your apprenticeship you will engage in off-the-job training, create a portfolio of evidence, and complete the End-Point Assessment.

This apprenticeship qualification is usually best for job roles such as Supervisor, Team leader, Project officer, Shift supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift manager.

Some of the subject areas you will study during the apprenticeship include:

  • Leading people
  • Managing People
  • Finance
  • Project Management
  • Organisational Management.

If you do not have grades A-C/9-4 in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent, you will complete Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship. It is nationally recognised, and is completed as part of the apprenticeship.

For further information about this apprenticeship programme, please watch the video below:

The apprenticeships are delivered through a variety of remote learning, video conferencing and one-to-one sessions at the business.  The designated tutor will arrange the most convenient location and method of delivery bespoke to yourself as part of your initial assessment.  Learning sessions are usually conducted every 4-6 weeks and last approximately 2-4 hours depending on your personal learning needs.

Off-the-job training is an essential requirement of apprenticeship qualifications to ensure you have adequate time allocated for studying and meeting with your tutor. In short, 20% of your working hours will be spent on training and learning activities to increase your knowledge, skills and behaviours related to the programme you will complete. You can do as much work as you want at a time that works for you and your employer.
