After the great success of our first Apprenticeship Spotlight of Procurement & Supply, we are back again with our second spotlight of Digital Marketing!

This apprenticeship is deal for existing employees in digital marketing or newly recruited apprentices.

What is a Digital Marketer?

The primary role of a digital marketer is to define, design, build and implement digital campaigns across a variety of online and social media platforms to drive customer acquisition, customer engagement and customer retention. A digital marketer will typically be working as part of a team, in which they will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of the overall marketing plan or campaign. The marketer will work to marketing briefs and instructions. They will normally report to a digital marketing manager, a marketing manager or an IT Manager.

Digital Marketer (Level 3)

By completing the Level 3 Digital Marketer apprenticeship, you will gain a qualification equivalent to two A-level passes. It takes approximately 18 months to complete (depending on working hours). As part of the apprenticeship you will engage in off-the-job training, create a portfolio of evidence, and complete the End-Point Assessment.

This apprenticeship qualification suits job roles such as Digital Marketing Assistant, Digital Marketing Executive, Digital Marketing Co-Ordinator, Social Media Executive, Content Co-Ordinator, SEO Executive and many more.

Within the Digital Marketer apprenticeship, you will study subject areas such as:

  • Implementation
  • Digital and Social Media Strategies
  • Technologies
  • Customer Service
  • Digital Analytics

You will also have the choice of optional areas that fit around your job role. Below is an example of a from the Digital Marketing Business Principles specialisation:

  • Understand the Principles of Specialist Areas in Digital Marketing

If you do not have grades A-C/9-4 in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent, you will complete Functional Skills alongside the apprenticeship. It is nationally recognised, and is completed as part of the apprenticeship.

Alongside the apprenticeship qualification, you will also gain three nationally recognised vendor or professional qualifications such as:

  • Google Analytics IQ
  • BCS Level 3 Award in Principles of Coding
  • BCS Level 3 Certificate in Marketing Principles

The apprenticeships are delivered through a variety of remote learning, video conferencing and one-to-one sessions at the business.  The designated tutor will arrange the most convenient location and method of delivery bespoke to yourself as part of your initial assessment.  Learning sessions are usually conducted every 4-6 weeks and last approximately 2-4 hours depending on your personal learning needs.

Off-the-job training is an essential requirement of apprenticeship qualifications to ensure you have adequate time allocated for studying and meeting with your tutor. In short, 20% of your working hours will be spent on training and learning activities to increase your knowledge, skills and behaviours related to the programme you will complete. You can do as much work as you want at a time that works for you and your employer.
