What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that allows individuals to earn while they learn. Apprentices gain practical experience in their chosen role while completing structured learning that helps them develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in their career.

Apprenticeships are available at different levels, from entry-level qualifications to advanced management programmes. They are designed to suit a wide range of industries and roles, helping employers build skilled, capable workforces and giving employees the opportunity to progress in their careers.

How apprenticeships work
Apprentices split their time between working on the job and completing learning activities. At least 20 per cent of their working hours are spent on off-the-job training, which includes study, online learning, mentoring and practical sessions with a tutor. For example, a full-time apprentice will spend a minimum of six hours per week on training and development.

Apprenticeships can be delivered through a variety of methods, including remote learning, video conferencing and one-to-one sessions at the workplace or online. Learning is tailored to the individual’s needs and scheduled at convenient times to ensure it fits around their job role.

Programmes available
We offer a wide range of apprenticeships to support different roles and career paths. Programme length depends on the level of the apprenticeship and the learner’s previous experience and qualifications, typically ranging from 12 to 24 months.
