This Level 5 apprenticeship unit is designed to help professionals develop practical knowledge in AI delivery and organisational transformation, focusing on how AI solutions are implemented and embedded effectively across organisations.
Apprenticeship units are flexible short training programmes created to support organisations in developing workforce skills in areas of growing demand. These units provide focused learning that can be completed over a shorter period while still delivering valuable professional development and workplace impact.
There are a range of AI Leadership Apprenticeship Units available:
Training can range from a minimum of 30-140 hours and is typically delivered over 1 to 16 weeks, allowing organisations and learners to balance study alongside existing responsibilities while driving meaningful organisational change.
This apprenticeship unit supports individuals and businesses looking to move from AI strategy into practical implementation, ensuring AI systems deliver measurable improvements in performance, productivity and organisational effectiveness.

TThis apprenticeship unit is suitable for professionals in leadership or decision-making roles who are responsible for shaping, influencing or supporting AI adoption within their organisation.
It is ideal for individuals involved in:

The course is particularly relevant for organisations that already have AI strategies in place and are now focused on scaling adoption, embedding AI into workflows and managing the impact on people, processes and performance.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this unit, learners will be able to:
- Lead the delivery of AI-enabled organisational change, ensuring AI solutions are sustainable and aligned with long-term organisational objectives.
- Assess and manage workforce impacts of AI adoption, including reskilling, role redesign, and anticipating potential job displacement or organisational restructuring.
- Evaluate the wider impact of AI adoption on organisational ecosystems, including suppliers, partners and digitally excluded groups.
- Implement organisation-wide AI risk management approaches, including monitoring systems, mitigation strategies and escalation processes.
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and regulatory frameworks, including incident response and security planning.
- Monitor the performance of deployed AI systems, including identifying risks such as bias, model drift and security vulnerabilities.
- Communicate AI-related risks and opportunities effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including internal teams and external regulators.
Entry requirements
To enrol on this apprenticeship unit, learners must:
- Be employed
- Be aged 19 or over
- Have an interest in organisational improvement, innovation or digital transformation
Funding
This apprenticeship unit is currently eligible for public funding.
- Non-levy employers may be eligible for full government funding
- Levy-paying employers can use existing apprenticeship funding
Delivery
Apprenticeship units are delivered remotely through group or one-to-one sessions using video conferencing platforms. Sessions are arranged to support the apprentice’s learning needs and are scheduled at suitable times throughout the programme.
Assessment
As a minimum, learners will need to pass a skills test delivered by ATL, to demonstrate that they have acquired the skills and knowledge set out in the apprenticeship unit. Employers will need to validate the result to confirm the learner has been successful.
