Apprentice Learning Facilitator

We are looking for a passionate individual who can support primary school children with their
learning. The role is to support children with their literacy and maths along with supporting
provisions for phonics, speech and language and behaviour support.

Annual Wage

£9,609.60 to £18,964

Any extra hours worked, e.g. running after school clubs, will be paid as overtime.

Working Week

35 Hours per Week

You will work Monday to Friday from 8:45am to 3:30pm with a 30 minute break each day.

Level 3 Teaching Assistant

Taking approximately 18+ months to complete, this apprenticeship is equivalent to 2 A-levels.

About Surrey Square Primary School

Surrey Square Primary School is a 2 form primary school in the heart of Southwark. They are near Central London, within 10 minutes from London Bridge.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, promoting high self-esteem and independence.
  • Adapt communication style to respond to pupils according to their individual needs.
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional and mental health needs, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in-line with the school’s behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of individual education and health care plans.
  • Contribute to the planning of differentiated learning activities for individual or small groups of pupils with special educational needs (SEN), delivering activities inside or outside the classroom.
  • Support the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
  • Use ICT skills to advance pupils’ learning.
  • Through observations, provide regular feedback to teachers on pupil progress, attainment and barriers to learning.

Apprenticeship Training

  • This apprenticeship qualification is called Level 3 Teaching Assistant.
  • If you do not have grades A-C/9-4 in GCSE maths and English, you will be required to complete Level 2 Functional Skills maths and English.
  • The learning will be delivered by dedicated, industry-specialist tutors via remote or face-to-face sessions. The only exception are any speaking and listening assessments – these may be delivered in a classroom.
  • These session take place once per month, for roughly 2 hours, at a time convenient for both you and the employer.
  • You can expect to be eligible for Teaching Assistant or higher-level Teaching Assistant posts upon completing this programme.
